Day Flooring Company specializes in site-finished hardwood floors
Many homeowners these days are deciding to have hardwood floors installed in their homes. At Day Flooring Company we specialize in creating beautiful site-finished hardwood floors. There are many benefits of having your floor finished onsite. The biggest of which is that you get to have creative control over the choices. You can select the wood species, the width of the planks, the stain color, and the gloss of the finish.
Once the floor is installed, onsite sanding is the only way you can produce a perfectly flat and smooth floor, leaving no crevices or irregularities that could accumulate dirt and dust over time.
Site finishing is a process that involves time to complete each step: filling, sanding, staining, sealing, finishing and curing. We use a (4) coat finish process that provides a high build of finish above the wood. The finishes dry very quickly and are nearly odorless. We are able to do two coats per day, and try to do them early enough each day so that the floors can be walked on in the evenings. The finish coats are safe to walk on as soon as they are dry, but curing takes several days, and it is recommended by the finish manufacturers that no area rugs be placed on the floor while the finish is curing.
We are using waterborne finishes that are manufactured in Sweden using the latest technology available for hardwood flooring finish. These are catalyzed two component 100% polyurethane finishes that are ceramic silica fortified at the nano level. The use of ceramic silica in the finish provides additional abrasion resistance that was not available for site finishing just a few years ago.
One of the big advantages of site finishing is that it makes it possible to closely match existing flooring, and if you ever need to repair or replace pieces, the wood you need to match it will always be available.
When they are correctly installed and well maintained, site-finished floors will remain beautiful and durable for generations. Call or email today to see what we can do for your floors.
