The strength of strand woven bamboo flooring hardwood
Many people choose bamboo flooring hardwood because it has been promoted as being an environmentally responsible product. This is true because bamboo is a grass and grows much more quickly than wood and it replenishes quickly. There is no need to replant bamboo because the root system is left intact when it is harvested. Almost all of the bamboo on the market today comes from China.
At Day Flooring we install strand woven bamboo flooring. The manufacture of strand woven bamboo begins when the bamboo stalks are sliced into strips and the skin is removed. The bamboo is then boiled and shredded, and processed down to a thick pulp. An adhesive substance is mixed in with the pulp and the pulp is then inserted into a mold. Heat and pressure is applied to make the mixture into the required shape. In the strand woven manufacturing process, the bamboo and the adhesive are fully integrated. This makes for a very hard and durable flooring product.
Strand woven bamboo flooring is available in a variety of colors, textures and widths. We recommend it for those looking for an extremely hardwearing surface. We prefer the thicker versions available for nail down installation. This process provides for optimal attachment to the structure and results in a floor that is very strong and durable.
Strand woven bamboo is factory finished, and can be re-coated using standard hardwood floor re-coating methods. Other than re-coating to restore the sheen, this flooring material does not show any wear under normal household conditions. It is important to note that this type of floor will have the appearance of a factory finished floor.
